This Friday Jim Gilmore will introduce us to Jill Haas of Warrior Path Home. Their motto: "Saving Lives and Inspiring Hope for Combat Veterans." Warrior Path Home is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving veterans of Livingston County and Michigan --providing coaching, education and equine-guided learning to combat veterans. (Equine = Horses)
(By the way, the 50/50 drawing is now more than $500 with about half of the cards remaining.)
Elias, our German foreign exchange student at left, helps apply eye drops this week to a woman in Kenya. Our fellow Rotarians should be home in another two weeks, so plan on a report from the Soccer Ball Program as well.
We believe this is part of a mission trip Nelson Edwards organized for World Medical Relief.
World Medical is a non-profit group that collects unused medical equipment and supplies from local hospitals and medical facilities. Items are then sorted, packaged and shipped to those in need around the world. Our work group took part in these sorting and packaging efforts in a truly “hands-on” work experience last fall..
MITT is only FIVE weeks away! Remain Calm. Don't Panic. You can do this!
LSRC members should get at least ONE SPONSOR for the 12th AnnualMidnight in the Tropics FUNDRAISER. Click on the link below for NEW online instructions and digital processing - EASY PEASY!
Since 2013, more than $550,000 has been awarded by our foundation to improve the quality of life for youth and families here in Livingston County. Sponsorship and ticket info: www.midnightinthetropics.com Remember, you also can contribute $5 or more to The Wine Envelope and/or to The Beer Envelope so we can purchase auction items. Thanks to The Canopy in Downtown Brighton for matching these funds and giving us a discount. If you wish, you may bring a favorite bottle of wine (no Two Buck Chuck).
Jim Gilmore, our illustrious president and District rep, is talking with a group of people in Ypsilanti who want to form an evening group as an offshoot of the Rotary Club of Ypsilanti luncheon meetings.
So, if you have any colleagues who work in Ypsi, and you think they would make great ROTARIANS, please pass their name along to Mr. Gilmore. Plan on attending the new club formation for a make-up meeting sometime later this year.
Wednesdays in January, join your fellow Rotarians for lunch at Chili's in Brighton. We will gather at noon to talk about a variety of interesting topics!!
Come on out for some great food (check online for menu options...) and spend some quality time with your Rotary family so you can get to know one another a bit better.
