THE WEEKEND begins with Rotary!

Please click on the link above "Having trouble viewing this email?" to see the ENTIRE Bulletin.

Mike Murphy, has opened the doors to the Livingston County Jail so we can have a meeting in person. Well, not the jail exactly, but the big garage to the right of  the general public main entrance at 150 S. Highlander Way, Howell.  Dress warmly.

HERE ARE THE JAILHOUSE RULES
(for our in-person meeting)
1.  Bring your own chair.
2.  Bring your own beverage.
3.  Bring your own breakfast. (Share?)
4.  Bring your own MASK.

Dress warmly (check the weather). Please arrive between 7 am & 7:15 am! We will maintain the proper social distancing between chairs, so this will be an extremely SAFE meeting. Place your chair along one of the rows, keeping six feet between rows. Maintain at least a foot or two between chairs, but do not speak directly face-to-face without wearing your mask. You know, to avoid spreading CoVid-19.

This Week's Guest Speakers - Wendy Mehan and Krista Davies
What is the latest research on Alzheimer's Disease. Will the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Oct. 3 be successful and how close are we to defeating this dreadful disease? Wendy Mehan and Krista Davies from Vista Springs Astounding Joy Assisted Living and Memory Care Community in Howell will inform us.

Wendy Mehan is the Managing Partner and Health and Wellness Officer of Vista Springs in Howell. She has been a Licensed Practical Nurse since 1989 after receiving a degree in Business Administration from Adrian College in 1986. Wendy continued her education and also received her degree in Social Work and Geriatrics in 1998. She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner. She is an active member of the Howell and Lansing communities where she works and is passionate about improving the lives of those around her. She has been married to her husband, Tim, for 35 years and loves spending her spare time with her four children and her two grandchildren.

Krista Davies is a new member of Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club as of today! She is Director of Business Development for Vista Springs and divides her time between the community here in Howell and one in Lansing.  She grew up in Hartland and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics. GETTING TO KNOW YOU - Krista Davies
It's time to get to know our newest member, Krista Davies, who is to be inducted on Friday, Sept. 25th. (Please send her a note of congratulations on her email link above and introduce yourself!)
Where are you from? Michigan, born and raised!

Where did you go to school? College? Degrees? Hartland High School and Michigan State University. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics.

What do you do professionally? I am the Director of Business Development at Vista Springs in Howell

What are your passions? What do you get excited about? I am very passionate about helping others, especially when it comes to finding solutions for seniors and their families. I am also incredibly passionate about music. And Yoga! Both make my world a much happier place.

Personal life:  spouse, siblings, children, hobbies, pets? I have been married to my husband Gareth for a little over 2 years. He is a blessing in my life every day- as is my rescue dog Oliver who is ten years young.

What is one of your super-talents? I don’t know that I would call it a super talent but I love to play my guitar and sing. I play for free and you get what you pay for.

 😊

What’s your favorite book? Why? This one is hard because I love almost everything I read. I recently read The Pillars of the Earth and thought it was beautifully written with a captivating story line.

What gets you really angry? Grocery shopping, laundry, you know being a normal domestic person…

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you? I am a pescatarianBut I don’t want people to think I am a difficult dinner guest so I don’t spread it around!

What's one thing your mother/father taught you that completely changed your life? People who are unkind are unhappy so never underestimate what someone else may be going through.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? If it won’t matter in a week it shouldn’t matter that much now.

If you suddenly won a million dollars and did not have to work, what would you do with all your free time? Travel with my husband, adopt all the rescue dogs, do yoga every day and play my guitar!

What’s your favorite type of music? Artist or Band? I love all types but gravitate towards rock/indie rock. Radiohead is my favorite band

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A singer….or a bartender… it went back and forth.

What’s your favorite tradition or holiday? I love the 4th of July because it’s the day my husband and I met.

Dogs or Cats? Why? I love all things furry but….dogs. There is a lot of soul in those eyes!

What is your favorite dessert? Do Cheetos count?

Do you have a favorite plant? Yea, the one Mike got me. LOL

What was the country you last visited outside of United States? St. Lucia, on my honeymoon <3
