Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and M-36 Satellite Club weekly IN-PERSON meet-ups are suspended until further notice.
However, you can participate in a virtual meeting every Friday at 7:30 am. See info below.
Last Friday we had about 16 members participating in a virtual ZOOM meeting online, including our German exchange student Elias Stitch (more about him later).
As with any regular meeting, it is open to visitors, visiting Rotarians and prospective members. So if you think someone who could benefit by seeing Rotarians in action, please copy and paste this information and send it to them in an email. In fact, we can add any prospective members to the Bulletin mailing list.
The ZOOM meeting will start promptly at 7:30 am.
However, if this is your first time, our Host, Sara Barnwell, will open the meeting at 7:15 am just so you can work the kinks. {NEWSLETTER READERSHIP RESPONSE CONTEST: The person with the most colorful coffee mug wins a bag of coffee beans!]
Here are 2 ZOOM tips from Jim Gilmore
1. Remember it is a video conference...put on a robe, and
2. Make sure you are muted when not speaking (our host Sara will help with this)...we don't want to hear you chewing your breakfast.
Sara Barnwell and Cleary University will be our hosts!
Time: Apr 3, 2020 07:15 AM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
We barely got a chance to get to know this fine young man.
You remember Elias? Our foreign exchange student from Germany?
He returned home suddenly because of the Coronavirus Crisis. But now he's an honorary member of the LSRC.
Hi Michael,
I am trying to do as many sports as possible as long as possible. I am studying for my med-school test. I also cook, help around the house and spend time with my family.
The whole state of Bavaria has strong travel restrictions due to COVID-19. Public life has almost stopped completely. Going to work, seeing a doctor, going to the pharmacy and doing grocery shopping are just about everything you are allowed to do.
We have to get adjusted to a life with less freedom. [Don't we all, Elias!]
I go out as much as I need to. I did not get put under a [14-day] quarantine (surprisingly). I miss Rotary, my Host family and all the good people with lots of positive energy.
Attached to this email you can find some pictures of my new, (like my great grandma called it) Man-ly hairstyle.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
[with kindest regards]
Elias Stich

Doris was a dedicated blood drive chairman and also friends with Doris Longfellow, who organized the first Rotary Club Blood Drive Challenge many years ago. Sadly, they are no longer with us except in spirit. Here is an example of Rotarians in Action. And a reminder to us all to put Service Above Self.
Let's get to know one another better by playing 20 questions...but only answering six.
Next week's victim... I mean VOLUNTEER, is Jamie Scott, executive director of The Willows in Howell. She is a Rotary Scholarship recipient, so kind of a legacy. She also has been called to duty to volunteer at Gleaner's this past Monday. Photos to follow!
The Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation has been meeting via ZOOM to accomplish its business. And the International Rotary Foundation is accepting grant requests to fight COVID-19 and is asking for your donations.
Your LSRC Foundation Board met March 30 via ZOOM this past Monday.
All LSRC members are encouraged to attend future meetings, hopefully in person at 7:30 am at the IHOP Restaurant in Brighton;

INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION
The COVID-19 pandemic is having a global impact that affects all of us. Rotarians like you are people of action especially in a time of crisis, and Rotary is uniquely prepared to help communities around the world.
Clubs and districts can apply for Rotary disaster response grants to support COVID-19 relief efforts. These grants can be used to provide supplies and medical care and to support rebuilding efforts.
The Rotary Foundation Trustees recently approved placing $1 million in our Disaster Response Fund to make these grants immediately available for applications related to COVID-19. To make sure these grants can remain available, we’re asking for personal contributions to the Disaster Response Fund. Your contribution will support grants that help Rotarians care for and protect people in their local communities and around the world. Make a gift to the Disaster Response Fund now.
Thank you for your dedication and service on behalf of Rotary.
Sincerely,
Gary C.K. Huang Chair, The Rotary Foundation 2019-20
