Mike Murphy, our county sheriff, once again has graciously opened the doors to the Livingston County Jail so we can have a meeting in person. Well, not the jail exactly, but the big garage to the right of the general public main entrance at 150 S. Highlander Way, Howell. (Do NOT use the prisoner's entrance. Bail will be much more than $200)
HERE ARE THE JAILHOUSE RULES for our in-person meeting
1. Bring your own chair. (Electric is optional.)
2. Bring your own beverage. (Coffee, tea, or me?)
3. Bring your own breakfast. (Donuts! mmmm)
4. Bring your own MASK. (Wear it properly!)
Please arrive between 7 am & 7:15 am! We will maintain the proper social distancing between chairs, so this will be an extremely SAFE meeting. Place your chair along one of the roww, keeping six feet between rows. Maintain at least three feet between chairs, but do not speak directly face-to-face. You know, to avoid the spread.
Thank you Betsy Hundley for introducing us to Rene Chodkowski, aka "The Great Foodini" who is our Neighbor in Brighton. Normally at this hour she would be delivering some freshly cooked or mixed concoction to Mike & Jon in the Morning and WHMI 93.5 FM, Livingston County's Own hometown radio station. Instead, we will begin our meeting promptly at 7:30 and she will be first on to speak!
Renee considers herself a food EDUCATOR; not just a cook or a chef. (Even though she has a commercial kitchen in her home.)
She regularly volunteers in Pontiac schools to teach kids how to prepare, cook and eat vegetables they never even heard of before, like artichokes. You can find her donating her time and talents in support of local charities like La Casa and Gleaners Food Bank. Anyone who has ever met her before know she's a HOOT! And she is a regular contributor toNEIGHBORS of Greater Brighton magazinebecause she lives in one of the subdivisions lucky enough to receive this monthly publication.
In 2011 she appeared in the FOX syndicated reality TV show "Master Chef" with Gordon Ramsay, her recipe for "My Oh My, Sweet Potato Pie!" as selected as one of 750,000 entries for a competition hosted by Chef Emeril Lagasse on ABC's Good Morning America, and she has been a Pampered Chef distributor for decades.
So prepare to be entertained and educated as the Great Foodini takes the stage at the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club Meeting, live and in person at the Livingston County Jail.
Will there or won't there be an NFL season this year? If there is, here's a chance to play along. Join the LSRC Fantasy Football League.
Even if you know NOTHING about football and even less about Fantasy Football, you can help raise money for the annual Pobuda Scholarship and win some money for yourself! (I do not have a competitive advantage even though my brother-in-law Dan and his brother Kelly created the first Fantasy Football magazine, Grogan's Fantasy Football Guide.)
See Jim Gilmore for details, but you must sign up before August 31 (next Monday) to join this league. "We charge $40 to enter, $25 of which goes to the Pobuda Scholarship Fund, the remainder to prize $$ and engraving the trophy."
Everyone is invited to join in the FFFun, even family members or co-workers. Click on Jim's email link above. #GoLions !
