Due to Covid 19, meetings are NOT being held at the Bennett Center. They are currently conducted via Zoom and/or in public spaces where we can socially distance. Please watch our Facebook page for weekly updates as to location/platform. Thank you!
Dress warmly (check the weather). Please arrive between 7 am & 7:15 am! We will maintain the proper social distancing between rows, so this will be an extremely SAFE meeting. Technically it is an "outdoor" meeting space if we keep the garage doors open.
Thanks Harvey Larson for inviting this week's speakers, Joe Miskovich and Matt Pepper with what used to be known as the Livingston County Humane Society on Dorr Road. They are now a part of the Michigan Humane, headquartered in Bingham Farms, with Adoption Centers and Veterinary Services in Detroit, Westland, Rochester Hills.
Matt Pepper (pictured above with a pooch) is the President and CEO of Michigan Humane (which dropped the word society recently). They merged with the Livingston shelter, clinic and adoption center in April 2019. Joe Miskovich is chairman of the board of directors for the local group.
Mission: To improve and save lives through compassionate care, community engagement and advocacy for animals.
Michigan Humane was founded in 1877, is the oldest and largest nonprofit animal welfare organization in the state. Each year, Michigan Humane achieves 100 percent adoption of more than 8,000 healthy and treatable animals through compassionate care, community engagement and advocacy for humane treatment. Michigan Humane operates four shelter and veterinary centers in Detroit, Rochester Hills, Westland and Howell; seven adoption partnerships with Premier Pet Supply, Petco and PetSmart; and both a Cruelty Investigation Department and a Statewide Animal Response Team.
