GETTING TO KNOW YOU, TOO!

Meet newest Rotarian DeVonna Snowden, being inducted Friday!

How are you coping during the COVID-19 Quarantine? What are you doing?

What is your passion?
To be an encouragement and a blessing to someone every day.

What about your personal life?
I have two adult children: Christopher age 27, who is sheltering in place with his grandparents to help them out and Madeline age 25, who is sheltering in place in Lansing and still working as a Speech and Language Pathologist for Okemos Schools and seeing students online.

What is one of your super-powers or secret talents?
Traveling on a dime -- I have traveled  to 20 different countries around the world, recently returning from Egypt just in time before the CoViD-19 shut down.

More charity work

I'LL TAKE "ROTARY POTPOURRI" for $200, ALEX
A compendium of Rotary info from around the world

REST IN PEACE JANET McPEEK
Sparky Anderson, our District 6380 Governor, wrote recently about the passing of Past District Governor Janet McPeek, PhD a psychologist from Rochester Hills and CEO of .

Janet’s passing was truly unexpected as she was scheduled to return home later today, even though Janet’s death was not related to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will effect the way we celebrate her wonderful life and offer support to Phil and all of Janet’s extended family.

Rotary has truly lost one of the kindest, gentlest most caring souls as heaven welcomes an angel that leaves behind a legacy of Service Above Self.

Let’s pray together and be thankful, that  we were blessed to have known Janet, I know she assisted me in many ways to be a better person, Rotarian and Governor for our great district.

In lieu of flowers, her family asked you to remember Dr. McPeek with a donation to the Rotary International Foundation.

How did Shia Smart do it? Shia is Governor of District 9810 in Australia, overlooking 41 clubs and 1,128 member. She joined Rotary where her son Flynn was just four months old.

As a charter member of the Rotary Club of Mont Albert & Surrey Hills just east of Melbourne, Australia they enacted policies that encouraged working parents. Like welcoming children at all meetings; relaxing attendance requirements and scheduling board meetings outside of regular business hours. "It's amazing how accommodating people can be when you explain things," she says. "Take people on the journey with you and you will find they are very supportive.  --The Rotarian, May 2020 p. 27
