We certainly are living in changing times. (And I'm not referring to Daylight Saving Time.)
Our club will not be meeting in the forseeable future. Nor will the M-36 Satellite Club in Pinckney be meeting. No Rotary Family Lunches in Howell or Brighton because the restaurants are closed, and well, we must maintain a social distance of at least six feet. Nor will we be having a District Convention or even an International Convention scheduled for later this year in Hawaii.
So what can you do? If at 7:30 Friday morning you are feeling a little isolated without your Rotary family, serve yourself up some breakfast, pour a cup of coffee or tea, and sit down in front of your computer and pull up the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club page on Facebook. There might even be a live streaming event from your Team Unstoppable members sometime in the future.
Also LSRC President Jim Gilmore is encouraging all Rotarians to support their local non-profits who are serving those currently most in need on the front lines. If you can lend a hand with food distribution please contactLivingston County United Way, Salvation Army, Bountiful Harvest, Gleaners, etc. and support your fellow Community Members, families & seniors most in need.
Please take time to update your photo and biography in the Club Directory. And pictures! We need photos! Send them to me at MLenninger@gmail.com or call/text 810-986-9320.
In the meantime, be not afraid. If you find some encouraging news of Rotarians in action, or want to share some POSITIVE news that can help others hunkering down, please post this info on our Facebook page. We will attempt to keep you updated in a weekly newsletter when we have something to share. Like this photo:
From Renee Chodkowski on March 10: Rotary rocks! Ed and I just returned from Grand Bahama Island for a little getaway and though they are not completely recovered from Hurricane Dorian, they are open for business and locals have free water thanks to local and international Rotary. We saw these tanks everywhere and I just wanted to give a heartfelt high five of admiration to my many Rotarian friends. We saw your amazing power in action. ♥️♥️♥️ — with Ed Chodkowski.
Do NOT Show up for Greeter Duty this Friday... unless you REALLY need to get out of the house!
Greeters that WERE SCHEDULED for 3/20/2020 * Linda Barnwell
Sara Barnwell
Robert B. Larsen
We will pick up this rotation when next we meet again. Let's be careful out there!
* Please contact your newsletter editor J. Michael Lenninger if you CANNOT fulfill your obligation. Text/Call (810) 986-9320 or email MLenninger@gmail.com
NO Rotary Family luncheons in March or most likely not in April either.
WEDNESDAYs in March, you would normally join your fellow Rotarians for lunch at CHILI's in Brighton. We gathered at noon to talk about a variety of interesting topics and get to know one another a little bit better. [Your editor is easily confused. Remember Howell on Tuesdays on Odd months and Brighton on Wednesday on Even months. HOTs, BOWs.]
In the future, plan on coming on out for some great food, good conversation (check the link above for menu choices...) and quality time with your Rotary extended family. Bring a spouse or co-worker as a no-pressure introduction to what makes Rotary so special.
There's room at the table for YOU, so mark your calendars NOW as a reminder for Lunch every WEDNESDAY in March and every TUESDAY in APRIL...if we have meetings scheduled.
