GETTING TO KNOW - Patricia Courtney

It's time to get to know your new LSRC president, Patricia Courtney, just a little bit better as we play 20 Questions!

 
Where are you from?  I’m a Hoosier girl, little town called Wanamaker, Indiana.
How long have you been a Rotarian? Officially 5 years on July 31st
What leadership roles have you held?  Youth Services Director, Youth Exchange Officer, Pres. 2020-21, District Inbound Coordinator for Youth Exchange
Where did you go to school? Franklin Central H.S. in Indianapolis, Indiana
What do you do professionally? I’ve done a variety of things.  But most recently was an associate pastor at New Hope Free Methodist Church in Canton.
What have you accomplished during the COVID-19 Quarantine?  I actually started working again as a personal shopper. Wanted to help out those who can’t go out because of COVID etc.
Personal life:  spouse, siblings, children, hobbies, pets, chickens? Hobbies?
Spouse; Larry. Married 36 years. 4 children, 3 grandchildren, 6 Youth Exchange daughters Pets: 7 chickens, dog, cat, goldfish Hobbies: hiking, kayaking, games, hanging with my family
What is one of your super-talents?  Hmmm, Super?  I make a mean chicken pot pie. [Not with your pet chickens????]
What’s your favorite book? Hinds' Feet on High Places, by Hanna Hurnard. Changed my life.
What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?  I was a majorette and pom-pon girl in high school. [From the French word, pompon, a decorative ball or tuft of fibrous material. A separate sport from cheerleading.]
What's one thing your mother/father taught you that completely changed your life? How to persevere through difficulties.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?  Forgive.
If you could have one 'do over' in your life, what would you do differently?  I would have joined Rotary earlier.
Of what are you most afraid?  Drowning
Favorite childhood candy or snack? Clark Bar Still like it today?  Indeed!
If you suddenly won a million dollars and did not have to work, what would you do with all your free time?  Volunteer more.
What was the worst job you ever had?  Legal Secretary
What’s your favorite type of music? Piano and Motown. Favorite band?  Yiruma and Sam Cook.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A lot of things, but mostly I wanted to be a Mom. [One of the most important jobs in the world.]
What book, movie read/seen recently you would recommend and why?  I’m a huge Marvel fan.  My favorite Marvel movie is “Iron Man.
Dogs or Cats? Why? Cat.  Easier.

Monday - Lunch - Howell at Howell Board of Education Room at the Administration Building (on Highlander Way)

Tuesday - Lunch - Brighton at the Brighton Community Building (aka the Boy Scout Building)
 
Tuesday - Lunch - Lyon Area at Abbey Park at Mill River...off Milford Road, south of I-96, across from Coyote Golf Club 

Wednesday - Lunch - Fowlerville at First United Methodist Church on 2nd Street

Thursday - Breakfast - Hartland Rotary Club, at the Hartland Insurance Agency (Old US 23, just north of M 59).  

Thursday - Lunch - Novi at Suburban Collection Showcase
                - NOON - Milford Rotary Club, The Wine Studio 113 N. Commerce Street in Milford.
