Due to Covid 19, meetings are NOT being held at the Bennett Center. They are currently conducted via Zoom and/or in public spaces where we can socially distance. Please watch our Facebook page for weekly updates as to location/platform. Thank you!
THE WEEKEND always begins with the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club!
Please click on the link above "Having trouble viewing this email?" to see the ENTIRE Bulletin.
Perhaps for the last time, IF Gov. Whitmer re-opens indoor seating for 50+ people, we will meet at the big garage at the Livingston County Jail 150 S. Highlander Way, Howell. Dress warmly.
HEADSUP: Westbound Grand River Avenue between Downtown Howell and Highlander Way is currently closed. Please choose a different route!
Dress warmly (check the weather). Please arrive between 7 am & 7:15 am! We will maintain the proper social distancing between rows, so this will be an extremely SAFE meeting. Technically it is an "outdoor" meeting space if we keep the garage doors open.
If you choose to accept this assignment, you will be our in-person GREETERS at the Livingston County Jail at 150 S. Highland Way, Howell. Be there by 7am!
Your duties are to greet members, guests and visiting Rotarians and make sure rows are set up appropriately for slide viewing.
Anyone reading this may volunteer. We need (2) persons. One to scan name badges and the other to greet and retrieve name badges.
Please inform the Bulletin Editor if you are unable to fulfill your duties, or find your own substitute!
This week, the superintendent of Howell Community Schools, Erin J. MacGregor, Ed.S, will enlighten us with an update of how our kids are doing during this CoViD-19 Crisis. How are teachers, staff, administrators, parents and students coping in this new virtual world of online and in-person learning?
Dr. MacGregor started as superintendent July 1, 2015 and is originally from Charlotte, a small town just south of Lansing. He also lived in Howell for a very short time.. He was the Plymouth Canton Community Schools assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, serving 24 schools and roughly 17,000 students.
“This job was an opportunity that I heard about and, after I did some research in the district, I decided to pursue it,” MacGregor said. “I felt that everyone I met at the district was so genuine and everyone had the same mission for student success.” as quoted in the Livingston Daily Press & Argus.
He turns 44 next month on the 15th, and has a wife and three kids. Ask him about them!
"October is National Principals Month. Our building principals have an amazing impact on our students every day. They are instructional leaders who strive to ensure that each student reaches their full potential. They support the fantastic work that teachers and staff do in the classrooms each day.
In trying times, they rise to the challenge, and most importantly, they care for every student. Since March, our principals have not stopped working.
This week, Special Olympics and ESPN announced that Howell High School was the only school in Michigan to be named to the ESPN Unified Champion Schools Honor Roll. Also this week, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Michigan High School Athletic Association released updated guidance regarding size limits at indoor and outdoor gatherings, which has an impact on our athletic events."
At last week's meeting Terri Delfina handed out Piggy Banks to members in attendance. We ask that you take the coming weeks to fill your banks with coins (any coin will do, not just pennies!), cash or checks to help with the fight against Polio. [For tax reasons, address your check payable to the LSRC Foundation.]
If you did not receive a bank and would like one, Terri has extras and will have them at this Friday's meeting. You may also collect money in the container of your choice and bring it to any meeting between now and October 23rd. The final day for collection will be Friday, October 23rd.
If you fill your bank before then, you can empty it at an upcoming meeting and refill it again before the 23rd.
Wishing you all a wonderful week and happy coin collecting!
HELP! We need more pictures. If you have ANY photos of ANY Rotarians in Action, please send them to me at MLenninger@gmail.com with a brief description and identifying the people pictured. Deadline will be Mondays at NOON, so it can make it in that week's BULLETIN.
