Welcome Anne Rennie, new member
Welcome Anne Rennie (that's ANN with an "E") new executive director of the Livingston County United Way last Oct. 7. Say hello to her as greeter this week. She says she feels like a real Rotarian since she already knows so many of us at LSRC.

You might remember her as Community Education Director for Brighton Area Schools, among other positions. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from University of Michigan - Dearborn and is working toward her Masters in Social Work.

Lunch Tuesdays with Your Rotary Family in HOWELL
TUESDAYs in FEBRUARY (the 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th)  join your fellow Rotarians for lunch at Aubree's Pizzeria & Grill at 4433 E Grand River Ave. in Howell. We will gather at noon to talk about a variety of interesting topics!

Come on out for some great food, good conversation (check the link above for menu choices...) and quality time with your Rotary family so you can get to know one another a little bit better.

There's room at the table for YOU, so mark your calendars as a reminder.
Livingston County Rotary Foundation update
Every month, board members of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation award mini-grants to various local charitable organizations. In January the group voted to award $1,500 to the Livingston County Truancy Task Force so they could expand the “Pathways to Potential” Project (P2P) into Pinckney elementary schools.

This Pathways "2" Potential Project places P2P workers in each school to help decrease the overall truancy rate and support students and their families in five target areas:  Attendance, Health, Safety, Education, and Self Sufficiency.

For more information on the P2P Project, please see Dianne McCormick or Rebecka Graham (M-36 Rotary Club).

All club members are invited to attend any, or all, of the upcoming board meetings of the Foundation. The next meeting will be Monday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 am at the IHOP in Brighton.

MITT 2020 - Making a Difference for Livingston County Youth

MITT is only THREE WEEKS away! (Now you may panic.)

This will be a night to remember. Please reserve your seats today! It will be a sellout.

REMINDER: LSRC members should get at least ONE  SPONSOR for the 12th Annual Midnight in the Tropics FUNDRAISER. Make the ask. Click on the link below for NEW online instructions and digital processing.

Besides a fabulous buffet, there will be entertainment by PIANO WARS, similar to Dueling Pianos.

More than $560,000 has been awarded by our foundation since 2013 to improve the quality of life for youth and families here in Livingston County.

The Fantasy Football WINNER is...
This proves that you don't have to know anything about football to play Fantasy Football. Terri Defina won the trophy this year (and $250) for the annual Donald P. Pobuda Memorial Scholarship....  without changing any of her players at all!
The trophy is named for Don Pobuda one of the founding members of this club and the third president. "He was just a super guy," said current President Jim Gilmore. He had served the community in various capacities including school superintendent.

Unbeknownst to most, Don was ill during his presidency and passed away on Thanksgiving just months after he turned over the gavel in 2007. He had leukemia.  "He never missed a beat," Jim said.

So in honor of Don Pobuda, the club created this special scholarship for High School Seniors who have overcome some adversity in their life. It's a $1,000 award that is renewable each year for up to four years and is open to any high school senior in Livingston County. Applications will begin to be accepted next month. Look for an announcement by Steve LaCommare who champions this cause. Don Pobuda introduced Steve to Rotary.

Next year, get in there and win one for the Gipper!
