NO REGULAR MEETING THIS WEEK... see you at
President's Night, June 23rd at TAMARACK at 395 Old U.S. 23 North at 6pm.
(It's a retired Jewish summer camp established by the Fresh Air Society of Detroit.)
Here's the scoop from our future LSRC President in 2023-24, Mike Murphy
Yep it is this Thursday, wholly smokes does time fly. Technically it starts at 6:00 for mingling and cocktails, but I'm pretty sure anytime after 5:30 will be o.k. Dinner will be 6:30 give or take a few minutes.
For those of you that attended last year, it is the same spot. (Camp Tamarack). The address is 405 N. Old US 23 Brighton. If your GPS doesn't like that, try 405 Lenny Newman Dr.
Camp Tamarack is on the West Side of Old 23. South of Bergin Road, [That's on the LEFT SIDE of the road as you travel from Brighton up Old U.S. 23] For a landmark, it's just south of Livingston Concrete on the opposite side of the road. It's a long driveway. Don't head left to the nice house on the lake. Keep right and THEN make a left.
Casual dress, superhero theme. Questions, let me know.
And NO MEETING on Friday, July 1st. Have a Happy Fourth of July!
LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM WAS...
The dedication of the LSRC Peace Pole at LESA.
The peace pole was dedicated in honor of Brenda K. "Woo Woo" Tipton for her extraordinary leadership as 6380 District Governor 2021-2022. That's Woo-Woo on the far right in blue. On the left with the microphone is our current LSRC President Jamie Nicholson, and in the middle is Michael Hubert, superintendent of the Livingston Educational Service Agency who graciously offered the space to plant the Peace Pole.
Above are members of LSRC who participated in the dedication ceremony. What a gorgeous day to make peace!
BrendaK Tipton is a past-president of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and is the current Governor of Rotary District 6380. Her reign... uh, rule... er...TERM ends June 30th. We thought we would ask her some of the questions you might ask. This will be a multi-part article over the next few weeks.
19. What do you wish all members knew, but most don't?
I deeply and truly love and respect all of them. I did not move into leading this District for me I did it for them and all Rotarians in our District. I did it to promote the amazing club and it’s members that I believe each club could and should model. I thank LSRC and it’s amazing members for giving me one of the BEST years of my life in being their President in 2017-2018 and I will forever be deeply grateful
20. Ask and answer a question you wish we had asked? Ha! You have about covered it all and I hope I wasn’t too long in my answers and thank you for asking about the adventures of BrendaK “WooWoo” Tipton.
21. What's next for BrendaK? My immediate focus NOW is to continue my 150+% engagement obligations to support and lead District 6380 and all members and clubs with all I can give until June 30, 2022. After that it is when I will look to my next Rotary venture. We will see where the next road leads and how the next chapter will be written.
Stay in touch, BrendaK. This is where you started it all! -jml
RANDOM THOUGHTS
As an editor, I see things differently. Ways to tighten up writing to make it clearer. So shouldn't we just have a THREE-WAY Test?
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR and will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
It's Rotary Foreign Exchange Student time! One kid is on her way to Germany. Three or more students will be on their way to Howell, Brighton and Pinckney. Look for a full report next week (I hope).

On behalf of the entire Reaching Higher community, thank you Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club for your generous grant. I am honored to be a member of this club as well as the Director of Reaching Higher 4 Youth. You are helping us help kids -- what could possibly be more important? Thank you!
