BrendaK Tipton is a past-president of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and is the current Governor of Rotary District 6380. Her reign... uh, rule... er...TERM ends June 30th. We thought we would ask her some of the questions you might ask. This will be a multi-part article over the next few weeks
.
13. What is one thing new members should do to get the most out of their membership involved? OR two things? To stay involved and stay active in the local club? Jump in, get engaged and Have fun. Start by approaching seasoned members, sit somewhere different every week, ask and engage members about themselves, volunteer right way for any and all activities even if you have no clue what it is and/or what is involved. Get out of your comfort zone whatever that is and as a member in this club and the Rotary organization by doing that will open the doors for you to make a difference and open opportunities that you never imagined. 14. Any regrets? NOT ONE! Being a member of Rotary International and Livingston Sunrise Rotary has forever changed my life!

UKRAINIAN RELIEF
Hello Fellow Rotarians!
During a recent meeting I briefly outlined our Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation’s Fundraiser to provide direct assistance to Rotary Clubs in Poland, Moldova, Romania and in Ukraine that are providing assistance to the Ukrainian Refugees that have been displaced by the military attacks on their country.
Our donations will go to Rotary International and will then be disbursed to the Rotary Clubs in those countries to support their aid to the Ukrainians with housing, clothing, food, bedding, medical, diapers, baby formula etc. None of these donations will be routed thru any government agencies so 100% of our money will go to those Rotary Clubs with boots on the ground giving the assistance.
If you have questions about the various efforts by these European Rotary Clubs and what they are doing, please contact Donna Gehringer as she has been following their efforts closely thru Rotary International. Call (517) 294-2177
Our Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation voted last week to provide up to a $7,000.00 triple money match for every dollar donated by Club Members. A $25.00 donation turns into a $75.00 donation, a $100.00 donation turns into $300.00! The bottom line is if our membership steps up and donated $3,500.00 we can exhaust the full $7,000.00 Foundation commitment (that is a $100.00 per member Foundation Commitment) and we can send a check to aid these refugees for $10,500.00. Pretty amazing for a small-town Rotary Club like ours! Thus far, more than $50,000 has been collected from our club and at the District 6380 level.
We will be collecting for one more week and will send reminders along with an update on our efforts. Cash or checks are acceptable. Please give your donation to Foundation Board Member Donna Gehringer or Foundation Treasurer Jenny Nash!
Have a wonderful day!

World Medical Relief's Aid to Ukraine
World Medical Relief based in Southfield, Michigan is directly involved in sending needed emergency medical supplies to Ukrainian medical facilities. WMR is in contact with the Ukrainian government which has sent us a request for medical supplies that they desperately need and we have in stock. These medical supplies are donated to WMR by several major medical centers in Michigan and other medical facilities. We are partnering with the Omnis Foundation which has offices in both Kiev and Warsaw.
WMR is packing these medical supplies in “Gaylords”. A gaylord is a standard size cardboard shipping box that is 4’x4’x4’ on a pallet. It will hold 64 cubic feet of supplies. The gaylords are loaded into a truck and sent to New Jersey where they are then loaded into an air freighter and flown directly to Warsaw, Poland. Omnis Foundation then transports the shipment of supplies from Warsaw to wherever they are needed in Ukraine.
Air freighting the medical supplies allows us to send these supplies quickly to where they are needed. However, it is expensive to ship by air. WMR is charged by weight of the Gaylord. On average it costs $1000 per Gaylord. We try to make a shipment to have between 5 and 15 gaylords. We could send more. That is at a cost of $5000 to $15000. WMR needs organizations, service club, corporations and individuals to sponsor a Gaylord. This donation will directly aid the medical crisis in Ukraine.
Greeters should arrive BY 7:15 AM and assist members to set up, hand out name badges, welcome guests and identify visiting Rotarians. Smile! Make EVERYONE feel welcome. Introduce them to other members.
