Get to know your fellow Rotarians better. Join us this month in BRIGHTON.
Warmest Regards, Tom Archer
So who every gets there first, please reserve a couple of tables for about 8 people. Our consummate host, Tom Archer, asks you and a guest to join us every WEDNESDAY in August in BRIGHTON at Jameson's Irish Pub and Grill in beautiful Downtown BRIGHTON. Park out front or in any of the many lots out back. Click on the links for each restaurant to read their menus and be prepared to order promptly at NOON!
Join us for fun, food, fellowship and great conversation with your extended Rotary Family (aka spouses). This also is a great way to introduce friends and colleagues to our club! There simply isn't enough time at our weekly meetings to get to know one another better. EACH ONE BRING ONE.
In September we return to CORRATI'S in HOWELL on TUESDAY!
LSRC Members Ramesh & Jenny joined friends Saturday, Aug. 8th, for the 4th annual Miles for Smiles event. These committed runners put their feet on the ground to raise funds for Julianna's Wishes, a Livingston County nonprofit dedicated to honoring the lives of children we have lost too soon.
Team Rotary GO! ... ACTIVELY raising funds and awareness for local charities.
This will be all the non-feature, interesting and easily digestible tidbits of information. So... whatcha got to contribute, LSRC Members?
EVERY BODY BRING SOMEBODY TO ROTARY
August is Membership Month which means it's time to invite others to the world of Rotary and to celebrate your Rotary club, your members and the good you each do in your community and around the world.
There are many ways to join in the celebration but to get you started... Say it loud, say it proud, “I am proud to be a Rotarian!" - "WooWoo"!!
Supporting our RI President’s and our District’s “Each One Bring One” Campaign, I recently invited others to engage in the wonderful fellowship of Rotary and today my home club has a new Rotary member who is being inducted in two weeks! You can do this too; it is really easy, Just Ask. So, I'm asking you each to support our “Each One Bring One” District Campaign by inviting someone to join you at an upcoming meet or event. This simple invite can change their life as well as yours.
As you may know, I'm always up for a good celebration and what a wonderful one we had at the Meet Governor “WooWoo” evening on July 22, 2021! This was the first “in person” event that our District has been able to hold since March 2019 when our PETS training was cut short due to what we now refer to as the Year of the Pandemic. On July 22, I was so happy to meet and greet all who attended and to re-ignite our Rotary fellowships. It was disappointing, of course, that the Canadian branch of our Rotary family was unable to attend but I look forward to an additional “Meet the Governor” Canadian style celebration once the borders reopen. I invite you to join me for that celebration as well. Stay tuned for details.
I hope you're enjoying our District social media campaign on the District Facebook page! We've been focusing on "Getting to Know" your District Team. If you haven't yet joined our group page, please make sure that you do to keep updated on Club and District events. It's a great way to stay connected! Rotary Facebook Group
Jim Watters has sent a request for an LSRC workday!
Bow your heads please. Let us weed. Let us pick the fruit of our labors. Let us give thanks for the coffee and donuts. And lettuce pray for good weather. AMEN.
Who will be there to FEED MY PEOPLE? You may bring shovels, and rakes and gloves, a friend and implements of destruction. You may beat your swords into plowshares if you wish.
If you have any questions please contact Jim Watters 810-225-4420. Or John R. Scotta at 248-535-7466

WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S Saturday Oct. 2 in BRIGHTON
Howell and Livingston Sunrise Rotarians:
We've all known someone, a family member or friend, that has been touched in some way by Alzheimer's. The Walk to End Alzheimer's, is a national effort to raise funds for research and awareness for the disease, along with support for families and care givers directly affected by it.
As we did last year, the Howell and Livingston Sunrise Rotary Clubs are teaming up to do our share in battling this dreaded disease. Last year, I'm extremely proud to report that we raised more than $4,000. Once again, the Howell Rotary Club is making a donation of $500 toward the effort. [Do I hear a challenge Sunrise Rotarians?]
This year's Walk to End Alzheimer's will be on Saturday, October 2, and be centered in Brighton. I understand that walks can also take place anywhere in Livingston County. We can decide later whether to meet in Brighton, Howell or some other location for our Walk To End Alzheimer's.
To register, our team page is located at http://act.alz.org/goto/HowellSunriseRotary. I hope you'll be able to register and participate. Any level of contribution will go far in combatting Alzheimer's!!
Kind Regards,
Nick
