IT'S PARTY TIME AT THIS WEEK'S MEETING
At our LSRC Meetup this Friday, Oct. 29th, we will be celebrating Fall and Halloween. We will have a fun costume contest. You can go all out, wear one item to "represent" a costume or do something in between.  Our very own Jessica Rose Grima is excited to bring a Jeopardy Game with Halloween categories, too.  The meetup will be festive, fun and a chance to hang out with your favorite club members.

We'll need a few volunteers to judge the costume contest, keep score and run the Jeopardy Game.

Yours truly,
Jamie

If you cannot make it to this meeting in person, please join us via ZOOM and keep your VIDEO camera on so we can see your smiling faces!

If you do show up, remember the CDC has recommended that EVERYONE wear a mask INDOORS, even if you have had all your shots.

[Did you know that even if you have been "FULLY VACCINATED" and/or have had CoViD ONCE, you still might catch it as a breakthrough infection AND unknowingly spread the virus to others?]

Variant D and Delta Plus of CoViD-19 are highly transmittable via the air. As infectious as the measles. Mask wearing is OPTIONAL for members, not a requirement. So MAKE GOOD CHOICES!

WHY YOU SHOULD GIVE TO ROTARY INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION
--by Pattie Courtney

Why do I give to the Rotary Foundation?  Legit question.

For me, it's pretty simple.  I believe in what they do.  I've always tried to put my money, energy and time where my heart is. My husband and I both feel that way.  It's one of the reasons we've supported the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.  We believe in our youth and desire to do what we can to help grow, inspire and promote peace and understanding in the world.  It's the same with the Rotary Foundation.

Many of Rotary's areas of focus are particularly important to us.  Especially Maternal and Child Health along with Literacy and Education. I appreciate that the Foundation allows one to give to a specific area of focus.  And it's easy to do through the Foundation website.

I also feel as Rotarian it's just the right thing to do; to support what Rotary does not only locally but around the world.   I feel it's a big aspect of Service Above Self.  We need to put our money where our mouth (and heart) is."

Join us this coming TUESDAY in Howell for stimulating conversation, tidbits of inside information, good food [and drink, but who's judging?] fun and fellowship outside our regular Friday meetings. Tuesday Nov. 2, at noon, at Corraiti's Pizzeria and Bocce Ball.

Warmest Regards,
Tom Archer
p.s. For those who arrive EARLY, please reserve a couple of tables for about 8 people. If the patio is warm, sit on the back bench.

As always, we are thankful for your support and loyalty, and especially your understanding and patience as we forge ahead in our mission to change the culture by promoting positive dancing.

The Masquerade Dance 2021 is this week, Friday, October 29, 2021. 6:30 – 10 pm. The Dance Project is hosting its 13th annual Masquerade Dance – a semi-formal event with great, clean pop music and lively swing dance instruction (grade 7 – 12). Students come wearing modest, semi-formal dress, accompanying masks and/or modest costumes. The dance will take place at Crystal Gardens Banquet Center in Howell. The event registration area will open at 6:00 p.m. for early registration. A swing dance lesson for beginners will be given at 6:30 p.m. Fancy punch and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.  Admission is $10 per person.  Proceeds benefit The Dance Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit group whose mission is “dedicated to changing the culture by promoting positive dancing” to area schools.

Our thanks to the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club for your support of The Dance Project, an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to changing the culture by promoting positive dancing.  We are reaching teens WORLDWIDE with practices and principles that encourage leadership, self-confidence and respect. Our message is POWERFUL, so that students can REPEL unwanted advances at their school dances AND in life.

The Masquerade Dance needs numerous volunteers to ensure that this community event is safe and fun for area teens. Service opportunities between two and three hours in length are available ON LOCATION in Howell between 2:00 and 11:00 pmFriday, Oct. 29th.

MITT NEEDS YOUR HELP
All hands on deck! We need your support for Midnight in the Tropics, our biggest annual fund-raiser for charities we select.

Let's make this the best MITT ever. Best MITT ever to me, means more of us getting involved than ever before. Let us do the best we can and I promise we'll will be proud.  Dollar amounts are great but engagement and involvement in the good is so much more.

As we all know our beneficiaries have been chosen! They are Reaching Higher Inc. and Special Ministries, a part of Livingston County Catholic Charities.

Our very own Sherriff Mike Murphy was kind enough to email a couple of leave behind documents which explain our MITT cause. Jim Watters put one of these documents together which shows all the monies we've donated to which organizations.  This is a SUPER AMAZING and effective tool to use when approaching your peeps. Thank you Jim. Mike put the appeal letter together. Straight up to the point and perfect to leave with those you approach.

Please, all of you, use the attached forms in your email from 10-21-2021 from John Scotta, keep copies on you at all times, hand them out, email them and ask ask ask and ask again for support. We are powerful in our community and we are respected for what we do for our neighbors in need. Some might feel awkward, some might feel timid or scared to ask. Don't, you have this club army behind you and you are a Rotarian with a mission.  Who could deny your request or not listen to our plea?  You are a Rotarian and together our mission to to better the lives of our neighbors in need.

Please make this a priority. No one or two people can do this alone. We  need everyone to pursue sponsorships, donations, auction items, services, and destination adventures. This is not selling. This is a humanitarian effort that will help hundreds of our local seniors and children in need of services and support.

If you are a past MITT committee member or chair, please lend a helping hand to those of us who are new to throwing this party. We need you to keep us on the path to greatness.
