Just a reminder that MITT 2023 Beneficiary Applications are due no later than August 1st, here is the timeline for the selection process.
Applications are due to be submitted to The Foundation Board President no later than Monday August 1, 2022 [You will find a current nomination form at the bottom left hand corner of our home page under DOWNLOADS or click here: Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation Request.]
THE REQUIREMENTS
.Applicant is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, serving Livingston County, Michigan. • Funds are requested to support a specific purpose, program, or project The amount of each grant award is subject to the amount of net proceeds from the 2023 Midnight in the Tropics event. • The specific purpose, program, or project aligns with one or more of Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club’s focus areas: Empower youth to stay on track to lead healthy and successful lives. Heal families in crisis Provide support assistance in areas of basic necessities, including programming, food and housing. • The Grant Request is endorsed by a member of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club. • Degree of impact of the program or project on individuals, populations of residents, or the community at large. • Sustainability of the purpose, program or project to operate successfully beyond the initial term. • Opportunity for Club members to support the program or project through volunteer service.
THE NOMINATIONS Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club members are responsible for inviting application from local qualified organizations. Each application must have the support of a Club member to qualify for consideration. [This also means you have vetted the organization as worthy of a grant or award.]
THE TIMELINE A subcommittee of the Foundation will review the submitted applications to determine if they are complete and contain all the necessary documentation. This task will be completed no later than Monday August 15, 2022 at which time applicants will be notified of any deficiencies.
Applicants then have until Wednesday August 31, 2022 to correct/amend or add to their application if any deficiencies exist. The Foundation Board will then fully vet each application to determine if the application fits within the guidelines outlined by the Club's, the potential member participation opportunities and that the documentation submitted is correct. The Foundation Board will then present the valid applicants to the full membership during our normal weekly meeting on Friday October 7, 2022 for the final selection of the MITT 2023 Beneficiaries.
BENEFICIARY PRESENTATIONS
During our normal weekly meeting on Friday November 4, 2022 we will have the beneficiaries selected do a presentation to the full club on the program/project we will be supporting NOTE: This is a corrected date for the Beneficiary Presentations.

MEET BALA MURTHY - the 2022-23 DISTRICT 6380 GOVERNOR - Thursday, July 21 at Kensington Metro Park
As we begin our first month of our 2022-23 Rotary Year, I am honored to lead with you and our “Team – Imagine Rotary” in District 6380. Aligned with RI President Jennifer Jones theme “Imagine Rotary”, our members too will “Imagine Rotary in The Joy of Service and Giving.” Together, we will continue our journey “From Effectiveness to Greatness”. I am personally inviting each of you along with your families and each of your club members to join this historic journey under the dynamic and vibrant leadership of 2022-23 Rotary International President and the first ever woman - Jennifer Jones and her invitation to you all to attend our July 21 event.
Our first event will be on July 21st, in a “BALLYWOOD Style Evening”, where we will be “Celebrating You, Your Families and Your Communities” AKA “Meet the Governor”. This event is being held at the centrally located Kensington Metro Park – Martindale Beach - 4570 Huron River Pkwy, Milford, MI 48380. It is less than 1.5 miles from 96E/96W. As our RI President said in her message, there will be lots of fun, food and entertainment for everyone in the family.
A Rotary Ambassadorial scholar, Bala has been committed to Rotary for over 30 years. Following his business contracts to DC, Bala was has been on the Board of Directors, International Services, Rotary Foundation and Embassy Relations & Sister-Cities Committee for the Washington DC Rotary (D7620). He has been the past TRF Chairman and member on the Accounting Service Reengineering Team for the DC Rotary. He has recently established the Rotary Yoga and Meditation Fellowship and its Secretary. He is the Membership Director and N. Central USA Vice-President of the Rotary International Travel & Hosting Fellowship. Bala is a member of the RI Alumni Relation Committee Prior to Washington DC Rotary,
Bala was a member of the Detroit Rotary (#16, D6400) where he held various club positions. Before Detroit Rotary, Bala served as President of Grand Blanc, MI Rotary (D6330). He has served on various District Committees in both D6330 and D6400, including being the keynote speaker at the D6330 District Conference in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. After the devastating earthquake in Gujrat, India 1993, Bala led and coordinated Rotary International global matching grant to rebuild fallen Gujrat communities, now named after Rotary (Rotary Nagar). During 2001, Bala led a 3-H Grant Initiative and approval to provide low-cost housing shelters in Western India. He has led several Rotary matching grants for supporting schools throughout the world including desks, chairs and blackboards for schools in India and education for school children in Cancun, Mexico.
Awards: Bala has received numerous awards including 1993-94 “The Rotary Foundation District Service Award” in D6330 for his leadership in implementing “Low Cost Housing Shelters” for the survivors of one of the worst earthquakes in W. India. Bala and his wife, Roma are Major Donors Level 3 and plan to become Arch Clump Society Members in 5 years. They are also Level 5 TRF Bequest Society Members.

With our signature events in Brighton on THE FOURTH (We own the day!), LSRC members continued to join together in the final days of the '21/22 season, as integral parts in Livingston County's FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER. We are making the world a better place. Each member contributes, building into the momentum and energy that defines Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club. Keep up the great work, everyone!!

Greeters should arrive BY 7:15 AM and assist members to set up, hand out name badges, welcome guests and identify visiting Rotarians. Smile! Make EVERYONE feel welcome. Introduce them to other members.
