WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
The LSRC Board has asked me to keep you informed about members who are M.I.A. for one reason or another.  Their names in blue are links to their email addresses. Just click on it to send a heart-warming message. You can look up their phone number in the club directory. Call me and I'll walk you through it.

Linda Carey has been taking care of her mom, Catherine Miller, who just turned 93 on Feb. 13. She's looking for someone to come in weekdays, 7-9:30, starting Tuesday March 15th to help her mom get dressed, get breakfast and get on the LETS bus. Call Linda at 1+ (248) 420-4114

Speaking of CoVid, Christa Coxon caught the bug on Feb. 28, 2020 and nearly died. She is what they now call a "long-hauler" and is still recuperating. When she is ready, she will come back to meetings. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Sam Brish, our ONLY chiropractor member, has been tied up with patients on Friday mornings. Element Chiropractic is so busy, she sees patients at TWO locations, one is in Wixom and the other in Farmington Hills.
"I miss everyone dearly, however, my practice has really taken off in Wixom and Farmington and has made little time for me to be elsewhere during the week," she wrote earlier in the week. [And missed her rotation as an Official Greeter on the 11th, but all is forgiven.]

"I have continued to run and do Crossfit and am trying to do some traveling on weekends to force myself away from the office."
She hopes everyone is happy and wishes us a warm and healthy winter.

[Spring official gets sprung exactly 30 days from Friday. Daylight SAVING Time resumes March 13. Ash Wednesday is March 2nd.]

[Also note in your calendar, Palm Sunday is April 10,  Good Friday is April 15th (There is a meeting, I learned!) , Holy Saturday and the start of Passover is April 16th, Easter Sunday is the 17th, Earth Day is April 22nd and do NOT forget Administrative Professionals Day the last Wednesday on the 27th of April. Which brings me to my favorite dad joke, "If April Showers Bring May Flowers, What Do May Flowers Bring?  PILGRIMS!]

ROTARY FAMILY LUNCH - WEDNESDAYs in BRIGHTON
FAMILY OF ROTARY LUNCH WEEKLY

He's no longer MIA!  This note from Tom Archer:

Rotarians,
"It's me.  I am alive.  It's lunch at Jameson's [Wednesdays] at noon.  I hope to see you all there!" [He might be buying lunch for everyone, ya never know.]

Get to know your fellow Rotarians better. Join us every Wednesday thru March 23 or stimulating conversation, tidbits of inside information, good foodfun and fellowship outside of our regular Friday meetings. We meet at noon at Jameson's Irish Grill on Grand River. Park out back.

Click on the link here to read their menu and be prepared to order promptly at NOON!

Invite  your extended Rotary Family [aka spouses], friends or co-workers. This also is a great way to introduce them to our club and what makes LSRC so special! There simply isn't enough time at our weekly meetings to get to know one another better. SO, EACH ONE BRING ONE.

Warmest regards,
Tom Archer

"Together, we make amazing things happen!"

NEWS from ROTARY DISTRICT 6380
Did you know that February 23 is the anniversary of the very first Rotary meeting?  It was held on February 23, 1905, in Chicago, Illinois. [That was 117 years ago, for those from Loma Linda.] February 23 is now designated as World Understanding and Peace Day promoting "understanding and goodwill as essential for world peace."

But, the 23rd is not the only day for advancing peace; the entire month of February is designated as Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month.  Every Rotarian should take the opportunity to plan and promote our Fourth Avenue of Service within their circle of influence in support of Rotary's continued quest to promote goodwill, peace and understanding among all world citizens. [Wouldn't you rather prevent war rather than picking up the pieces after a conflict?]

Promoting goodwill, peace and understanding can take many directions.  Recently, our Club Presidents were invited to give an update on their club's goals and service projects during my MidYear check-ins.  For me as your honored CEEO, these meets were educational, uplifting, inspiring and nothing short of amazing!!  To hear about the creative ways our District clubs and members have answered the call for support within your local communities and beyond leaves me speechless.  When reflecting upon what our clubs are doing with local and worldwide service projects which are indeed a part of building peace, I feel proud of our efforts to help others in need. Thank you all!

American and Canadian Rotarians are blessed with many resources.  Your service projects enable us to share the wealth with those less fortunate.  Our District is available to support those projects.  I encourage all clubs to attend the upcoming Grant Seminar on February 26 and to consider applying for a District Grant to expand a local service project.  You might also consider adding an international/global project to your club’s resume to increase your service reach.

February is an important month for Rotarians who will continue to engage in service projects that support peace -- it’s also my birthday month, WooWoo!!  Having the opportunity to serve our District is a wonderful gift that all of you have given me.  I am so grateful for your enthusiastic support!  This year my focus is on our Rotary District 6380 Clubs and members as we continue to find ways to adapt and re-create ourselves while continuing to grow our District.  I urge you all to continue to Engage, Excite and HAVE FUN – WooWoo!!  --Brenda Tipton, Rotary District 6380 Governor, 2021-22.

GLEANERS' CUPBOARDS ARE BARE
Gleaners needs us to help restock the personal care items they give to needy people and families. Tucked away in your bathroom closet, you must have some sample sizes of deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream, little bars of soap, hand cream, shaving cream... you know, the stuff you'd pick up at hotels when you used to travel PRE CoViD-19. I don't know about you, but since I bought a Sonic toothbrush, I've been accumulating a ton free toothbrushes from my dentist for the last 10 years. Bring those!

If YOUR cupboard is bare, you also can pick up some sample sizes at your local grocery store, Meijers, CVS or Walgreens. Bring them to Friday's meeting and Terry Defina will collect them and give them to Gleaners.

p.s. Bring empty egg cartons! They receive eggs in bulk, but need to put them in protective containers.
