LETS PLAY 20 QUESTIONS WITH BRENDA TIPTON

BrendaK Tipton is a past-president of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and is the current Governor of Rotary District 6380. Her reign... uh, rule... TERM ends June 30th. We thought we would ask her some of the questions you might ask. This will be a multi-part article over the next few weeks.

4. Who got you involved in Rotary?
My good friend Aleia (Jackson) MacDonald.  We were having dinner one evening and I mentioned, after many years of personal struggles I was at a point in my life that I really wanted to get more involved in the community and to give back to others.  We also just so happened be sitting next to the President of the community’s Youth Connection Services who overheard our conversation and both urged me to join Rotary.  I was invited to attend breakfast at Livingston Sunrise Rotary the next Friday and the rest is what we can all call WooWoo history.

5. Why did you remain a member after the first couple of years and why do you remain so active after all of these years?
I knew early on that I didn't want to just have breakfast once a week with group of amazing friends, family and community leaders I wanted to Change Lives, Change Others and Change Myself.  Because of my membership in Livingston Sunrise Rotary my life has changed.  Being a member of the largest service organization in the world has opened my life to so many opportunities that each day and each meet gives more hope and opens more doors that me, myself and I can be part and make a change in my life as well as someone else’s in order to make the community and world a better place and maybe a better moment for someone or something in need.

Click on the link here to read their menu and be prepared to order when you arrive!  Or you can order ahead of time if you need to duck out early.

In May, we will see you on TUESDAYs, at Corrati's in Downtown Howell. You must try their delicious sorbetto and gelato, made with the Cadillac of all gelato machines, with training in Italy! It's not on the menu. Gotta ask for a taste.

Invite  your extended Rotary Family [aka spouses], friends or co-workers. This also is a great way to introduce them to our club and what makes LSRC so special! There simply isn't enough time at our weekly meetings to get to know one another better. SO, EACH ONE BRING ONE.

THE UKRAINIAN WAR AND ROTARY

It is a tragic and sad time for the people of Ukraine and the world.

Many of you may not have remembered and/or even known but we have very close Ukraine ties to RI CEO John Hewko through our District and the Rotary Club of Clarkson .  Our District assisted in planting the seed 30 years ago to help sponsor the 1st Kyiv Rotary Club in Ukraine.

Because of these past District connections Mr. Hewko is suggesting we all channel efforts to the RI  Disaster Response Fund until 30 April 2022. RI will  then put a report together about all the donations  from RC Kyiv co-sponsor Districts/Clubs. He sees it as a demonstration of Rotarians from different Districts, Clubs and Countries coming together again collaborating to help Ukraine.

Today, our thoughts are with our fellow Rotary members and others in Ukraine coping with these tragic events. Rotary International will do everything in its power to bring aid, support and peace to the region.

As one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, we have made peace the cornerstone of our global mission and I thank you all for your continued efforts to Serve to Change Lives.
