PLAN TO ATTEND PRESIDENT'S NIGHT
Please register for you and a guest to attend President's Night June 23rd by emailing Mike Murphy. [< just click the link to the left.] No online registration is allowed. You must email or call Sheriff Murphy.
If you want to attend President's Night, Thursday June 23rd, 6pm -9pm-ish please send me an email and I will put you down as an rsvp on my version of a spreadsheet. That would be a sticky note :-). Then I will add up all those little sticky notes, for a final head count, which I would like to have by June 10th, so we make sure we have enough food and drinks. The venue will be the same as last year (address and parking instructions will follow once we get closer). There is no cost of course, because Steve Gronow has done a great job of extorting $$$ from you over the year.
*** There will be no "club runner registration" This is your official announcement, and to "register", you will send me an email rsvp with your attendance. I addition, please let me know if your spouse, significant other or guest will be joining you. (I am not going to assume) Please send your email rsvp to mmurphy@livgov.com***
Questions, let me know. Thanks, enjoy the great weather !
BrendaK Tipton is a past-president of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and is the current Governor of Rotary District 6380. Her reign... uh, rule... er...TERM ends June 30th. We thought we would ask her some of the questions you might ask. This will be a multi-part article over the next few weeks.
11. With all of the duties and responsibilities of your office, how do you balance work and family life? I always say you make time for what you love and I love Rotary. I do however love my corporate IT Leadership Position at Kyndryl IT Service Management company where I manage, direct and support the day to day IT Storage Enterprise Operations for ATT and most importantly I intensely love my family.
Time management however is key by putting forth good practices of what is important, being flexible and available for times of engagement and being able to adjust to ever changing challenges is key!! I started as Governor with the Pedal to the Metal since July 1,2021 and do not plan to let up until June 30, 2022. I owe and have obligations of focus to the members of this District in order to support them to be the BEST they can be in order that we can continue together to be the BEST as what we do for humanity in our communities and beyond.
12. What advice to you have for the incoming District Governor?
Educate yourself, get out there and Prepare.
Educate yourself on all avenues of the district workings by joining committees, teach yourself and have daily hands on engagement with the available Rotary Online tools and attend all events to get to know the amazing folks in the district and beyond. The district is like a club on a million kinds of steroids as each move made is working at making decisions for the good of the district, it’s club and its members, Once you are selected have a plan, work on that plan and be open to making changes in direction along the way.
When the calendar clicks on your start date kick it into high gear, put your plan in full speed mode and don’t let up. Set your mind and soul to go full speed for 365 days supporting the district and doing good in the world. You were put in this position for a reason. You will stumble, you will feel alone, you will cry, you will be frustrated, you will rejoice, you will implement change but in the end you will know and through your actions others will see that you gave all that you could give 150+%.
It will be you and truly only you through your leadership and actions that you made the difference in others and most importantly in yourself.

Rotarians at Walk for Warmth OLSHA
It was a rather warm day last Saturday, May 14th as these Rotarians raised money for citizens in danger of having their heat turned off this coming winter.
Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) is a Community Action Agency that was formed in 1964 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty. OLHSA supports Oakland and Livingston County residents that are looking for support in removing the burdens of poverty by providing individually tailored, wrap-around assistance for all individuals and families in need of help.
UKRAINIAN RELIEF
Hello Fellow Rotarians!
During a recent meeting I briefly outlined our Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation’s Fundraiser to provide direct assistance to Rotary Clubs in Poland, Moldova, Romania and in Ukraine that are providing assistance to the Ukrainian Refugees that have been displaced by the military attacks on their country.
Our donations will go to Rotary International and will then be disbursed to the Rotary Clubs in those countries to support their aid to the Ukrainians with housing, clothing, food, bedding, medical, diapers, baby formula etc. None of these donations will be routed thru any government agencies so 100% of our money will go to those Rotary Clubs with boots on the ground giving the assistance.
If you have questions about the various efforts by these European Rotary Clubs and what they are doing, please contact Donna Gehringer as she has been following their efforts closely thru Rotary International. Call (517) 294-2177
Our Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation voted last week to provide up to a $7,000.00 triple money match for every dollar donated by Club Members. A $25.00 donation turns into a $75.00 donation, a $100.00 donation turns into $300.00! The bottom line is if our membership steps up and donated $3,500.00 we can exhaust the full $7,000.00 Foundation commitment (that is a $100.00 per member Foundation Commitment) and we can send a check to aid these refugees for $10,500.00. Pretty amazing for a small-town Rotary Club like ours! Thus far, more than $50,000 has been collected from our club and at the District 6380 level.
We will be collecting for one more week and will send reminders along with an update on our efforts. Cash or checks are acceptable. Please give your donation to Foundation Board Member Donna Gehringer or Foundation Treasurer Jenny Nash!
Have a wonderful day!

World Medical Relief's Aid to Ukraine
World Medical Relief based in Southfield, Michigan is directly involved in sending needed emergency medical supplies to Ukrainian medical facilities. WMR is in contact with the Ukrainian government which has sent us a request for medical supplies that they desperately need and we have in stock. These medical supplies are donated to WMR by several major medical centers in Michigan and other medical facilities. We are partnering with the Omnis Foundation which has offices in both Kiev and Warsaw.
WMR is packing these medical supplies in “Gaylords”. A gaylord is a standard size cardboard shipping box that is 4’x4’x4’ on a pallet. It will hold 64 cubic feet of supplies. The gaylords are loaded into a truck and sent to New Jersey where they are then loaded into an air freighter and flown directly to Warsaw, Poland. Omnis Foundation then transports the shipment of supplies from Warsaw to wherever they are needed in Ukraine.
Air freighting the medical supplies allows us to send these supplies quickly to where they are needed. However, it is expensive to ship by air. WMR is charged by weight of the Gaylord. On average it costs $1000 per Gaylord. We try to make a shipment to have between 5 and 15 gaylords. We could send more. That is at a cost of $5000 to $15000. WMR needs organizations, service club, corporations and individuals to sponsor a Gaylord. This donation will directly aid the medical crisis in Ukraine.
Greeters should arrive BY 7:15 AM and assist members to set up, hand out name badges, welcome guests and identify visiting Rotarians. Smile! Make EVERYONE feel welcome. Introduce them to other members.
