A MESSAGE FROM PATTIE COURTNEY
Hello everybody!
This will be my final message to you as my year as club president is coming to an end. It's been an unusual year, no question about that. I've enjoyed it though and I'm grateful to have had this opportunity to lead this awesome club. It's been an honor, fun and a good learning opportunity for me. Thanks for your awesome support and for hanging in there despite the challenges we faced.
This Friday also will be my last meeting with you as your club president. Jamie Nicholson will be stepping into this role for 2021-22. Her first meeting will be July 9th. I wish her well and truly look forward to us all getting back to some normalcy.
Jamie will be presenting her Young Professionals this Friday. We look forward to hearing from these ambitious young people. (What do young people think these days? What interests them? Can we bridge this generational gap in our Rotary membership?)
We will also be awarding our final GoldenRoty! Who will it be? Come out and see!
President’sNight. Murph needs a final head count earlier. If you intend to join us, please shoot him an email with your numbers (guests are welcome). There is no charge to you. Join us for our first real party in over a year! July1st, 6-9 p.m. (And if you forgot to register, or your plans change at the last minute, every party has a 5% no-show rate. So we should have room, but ask Murph.)
See you Friday!!
Pattie Courtney
Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club President 2020-21

WE NEED INTERESTING SPEAKERS
C'mon guys! I think I've sponsored three speakers for Rotary year 2020-2021. We ALL should bring in at least one interesting person who is a dynamic speaker. We have 50 active members, so that's one a week.
Here's what Mark T. Robinson asks you to do: "We have open dates for speakers on July 23, August 20 and August 27. Be creative. Educate us. Entertain us. Challenge us." Call or text him at 248-207-7124 And follow up with an email to confirm: mark@livingstoncatholiccharities.org We would like a short bio and a photo of your speaker at least a week before so we can highlight them in the LSRC BULLETIN.
GIVE BLOOD, SAVE LIVES in BRIGHTON JUNE 30th
It's all hands on deck to find 30 more donors for next week's blood drive. There is a nationwide critical shortage of all types of blood across the USA, and an urgent and emergency need. Hospitals have begun postponing elective surgeries, and most blood banks have less than a day's supply of O-negative blood, the universal blood type.,
You should schedule a whole blood donation about every 3 months, or 3,000 miles, especially during the summer and around major holidays. Double Red Donors can give up to 4x a year.
Versiti has scheduled the Brighton Community Blood Drive for Rotarians and their friends and family on Wednesday, June 30th at the Brighton Light House, 142 Brighton Lake Road, just off Grand River, 12:30 - 7 pm. Free Summer of Peace T-shirts!
Or text/call J. Michael Lenninger at (810) 986-9320 for an appointment. Walk-ins welcome, if they have room to squeeze you in.
THIS JUST IN...
At our FABULOUS club meetup on Friday, June 18th, LSRC member, Ramesh Iyer TOOK THE INITIATIVE and said he would GET THE CONTACT INFO to take steps in helping Kaila, our speaker from Versiti, get MORE BLOOD DONORS!
After sharing NUMEROUS ways in which people the organization with the URGENT NEED for blood, Kaila and Ramesh had a conversation about bringing Versiti into a company setting and working TWO SHIFTS. T
his TERRIFIC response is just ONE MORE WAY that LSRC members STEP UP and take OPPORTUNITIES for SERVICE ABOVE SELF!! Go, Ramesh, GO!! --Jamie Nicholson, LSRC President 2021-22

QUACK-QUACK. HUNGRY DUCKS ON THE RUN JULY 4th
It MUST be the annual Hungry Duck Run. And this is Mike Murphy's Swan Song. He ain't gonna do it no more, no more.
Ladies and Gents,
As Jamie Nicholson and Pattie Courtney have reported, we own the day and we need help with the run. [When IS the Fourth of July? I hear it's on a Sunday.] No excuses this year, 'cause we are not selling raffle tickets. Here is what we need: The race starts at 7am sharp and will be totally over by 10:30, but the majority is over by 9.
Packet Pick up: We need to "man" this. Running Lab [Note their new location in Downtown Brighton.] will have these ready a few days ahead of the event. I will tell you what they are once they are established. Easy job, shoot the bull with people, give them their bib and a T-shirt.
Water Stations: There are 4 water stations that need to be "manned". TWO people per station. Time needed is 6:30 - 10:30. Some stations will finish sooner [Hint-Hint, sign up for the first station!]
Day of Registration: We need 4 or 5 people to grab any last-minute registrants and take their money. Time needed: 6am to 7am [Hint-Hint-Hint: A one-hour time commitment!]
Set up / Tear down: This refers to the course signage and water stations. A. couple of people would be helpful for this
Flag People: Even with the best signage, we still get people that get confused, so 3 people (one at each intersection) as they get back in town to point them in the right direction would be great.
Medals and Awards: 2 people to hand out medals and awards at the end.
National Anthem: If someone knows of a singer and could bring a flag that would be great. We can use the PA on one of the emergency vehicles.
After it is all done, Tom (Archer) has agreed to let us crash his house and go for a dip in the pool, and east some of his world-famous pulled pork. Please let Tom know if you plan on attending the after party, so he knows how many to expect.
That is all! If any of these suit your fancy, let me know and I will put ya on the spreadsheet :-)
