Four non-profit beneficiaries of Midnight in the Tropics 2023 will be voted upon by the membership on October 7th . THIS IS ONE MEETING YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS! Tim Williams as President of the LSRC Foundation has released the list of potential beneficiaries. Out of four applications, we will narrow them down to two. Our own LSRC Foundation will be the third beneficiary.
Those beneficiaries are The Literacy Council, Habitat for Humanity, Livingston Family Services (aka The Connection Youth Services in Howell) and The Dance Project.
Come celebrate 25 years of Reaching Higher and 25 years of helping kids be the best they can be! I know this year's gala is going to be even more fun and more special than our normal yearly event, and I sure hope to see some of my LSRC friends there for this special evening. Mark your calendars for the evening of Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Westin Book Cadillac building in Downtown Detroit.

We will be celebrating our new members and all Rotarians who support the Foundations, which means YOU! Please come and join 2018-19 President of Rotary International, Barry Rassin share his dynamic and vibrant message about our Rotary Foundation and membership importance in our organization.
In support of World Polio Day on October 24th, District 6380 is rolling out the PolioPlus Society to encourage and recognize Rotarians who help reach the finish line on Polio eradication. In recent months an unvaccinated man in New York was paralyzed, a child in Malawi contracted Polio, and poliovirus was detected in sewage in the UK. We know we can reach a Polio-free world, but only with unwavering continued effort.
Rotary donations to the Polio Fund continue to be matched 2-1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Rotary commits to raise $150 million to fight polio every year. Our District can help ramp up efforts through our new PolioPlus Society. You can join this society by donating $100 every year to the RI Polio Fund until polio is eradicated.
The PolioPlus Society was started in Oregon several years ago, and later taken up by districts in California. As of December 31st, 2021, they had 4,000 Society members donating $524,000 annually! We in District 6380 are joining the effort. By pledging $100 per year until polio is eradicated, you will be a member of D6380 PolioPlus Society and receive a Certificate, PolioPlus Society lapel pin, and End Polio Now wrist bracelet. The party starts at Crystal Gardens at 5:30 pm, don't miss out! This year’s team captains are Bob Cernak for the Wolverines and George Moses for the Spartans. Bob was a tight end at the University of Michigan in the 80s and led the Wolverines to victory in the Tailgate last year. George is a Michigan State University alumnus and publisher ofThe Marketeer. He was the winning captain of the virtual Tailgate party in 2020.

POLIO PAPER SHRED DAY OCT. 8 IN ANN ARBOR
Hello everyone,
Ann Arbor West Rotary Club's is sponsoring a Polio Shred Event, happening this Saturday October 8, 2022, 10am-1pm, at 4420 Jackson Road in Ann Arbor.
This is an opportunity to support a polio project in our district through your donations or by volunteering to help out. Contact Arun Prasanna, from the Ann Arbor West Club if you would like to volunteer, arunprasanna66@hotmail.com.
Just a heads-up . . . our Club will be raising funds for Polio through a "Change for Polio" campaign through the month of October. Start saving your "change" in a jar, or piggy bank, etc. - and watch those donations grow! Watch for more details.

SEARCHING FOR A NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR LCCC
EctoHR, Inc., is helping Livingston County Catholic Charities in the search for an Executive Director position. This is Mark Robinson's (current LCSR member) position and he will be retiring next year. Heather Aeschliman, frequently a visitor to LSRC but officially a Howell Rotary member is sitting on the search committee.
The Executive Director provides the overall leadership and management of the mission of LCCC. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership through budget management, overseeing, and developing service programs, relationship building through community outreach and advocating for LCCC’s programs. The Executive Director is actively engaged in the community serving as the face of LCCC, participates as a member on all committees of the Board of Directors and actively facilitates a Board/Co-worker partnership to accomplish the goals and fulfill the organization's mission
Reaching Higher needs adult mentors for our Reaching Higher 4 Recovery program serving adults. It's in partnership with RAIL - Recovery Advocates in Livingston. Please share with anyone you know who might benefit from the class. It meets for four weeks (not the typical eight in the youth program) starting Oct. 26
The Tour de Livingston ride provides an opportunity for our bicyclists to enjoy outstanding fall colors during the peak color season in southeast Michigan. All proceeds from this event help to: bridge the gap for local hardworking families struggling to meet their most basic needs; prepare every child to be ready for success; and build a healthy community for all residents via the Livingston County United Way Basic Needs Programs.
Since its start in 2008, the Tour de Livingston has raised more than $485,000 to address the community’s most critical needs! The Tour de Livingston is organized and run by the Howell Rotary Club, which was established in 1924. Discover more info at: www.howellrotary.org. Routes are being developed. Again this year we will be starting from Howell High School Freshman Campus Cafeteria area 411 N Highlander Way Howell, MI 48843. Look for the signs. We will have a wonderful breakfast when you arrive for registration.
Can't ride? Volunteer! The Howell Rotary is primarily looking for additional volunteers to assist at aid stations.
Greeters should arrive BY 7:15 AM and assist members to set up, hand out name badges, welcome guests and identify visiting Rotarians. Smile! Make EVERYONE feel welcome. Introduce them to other members.
