Join us for tasty BREAKFAST treats, POSITIVE energy and HEARTS of service! Club business starts promptly at 7:30 am, with pledges, announcements, Fine Sheriff duties and HAPPY DOLLARS. A weekly talk ENRICHING our lives takes us to 8:30am.
Thank you for all the proofreaders who found mistakes in last week's newsletter. You catch it, I'll fix it!
This week's meeting is all about our strategic plan for this fiscal year. Donna Gehringer will reveal a draft of the proposed action items.
Nobody selected Ace of Hearts to win the 50/50, but two of our Foreign Exchange Students had their ticket picked The pot is more than $250 this week! Bring your money; exact change is appreciated! $5 for three tickets or $2 each.
It's fall, y'all and Jim Gilmore wants your money to fund our annual Pobuda Scholarships through a Fantasy Football competition. The details follow.
We are getting the teams and owners signed up for this annual fundraiser that is in its umpteenth year now (you'll have to ask Diane McCormick exactly how many as she has the travelling trophy).
The object is to have a little fun with fantasy football while raising some money for our Club's Scholarship fund named after our third President, Don Pobuda.
Here is how it works...
Each player (team owner) kicks in $40 for their team. $25 goes to the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation for the Pobuda Scholarship Fund and $15 is set aside for prizes and trophy engraving at the end of the season.
You can be as active as you choose in changing players, using the waiver wire, trades, etc. We have had winners who have very little (or no) activity at all as well as those who seem to know alot about the NFL. We use Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football platform which is fairly easy to learn and navigate. Choosing your team name is a fun exercise and we've had a few extremely creative names (ie. WooWoo's Rumble, Locos Rotarian and Tacklin' Fuel) and others not so creative (ie. Sara's Team). We usually award prizes for First (less the engraving cost) Second and Third.
Tom Archer and I are the Commissioners and our decisions are final...no appeals.
So, if you are interested, let me know by email and include the email you want to use for your league communications. If you were a participant last year, you can keep your team name and if you are new, we'll assign you a team or ask you create a new one. If you were a participant last year and you do not want to play this year, let me know so we can assign your tream to someone else.[Do it now. Pre-season games start now through the end of August, but they don't count!]
Your money is due prior to the AutoDraft, which will be held automatically Saturday, September 3 prior to the first game...no money, we re-assign your team. Please pay in cash paper-clipped to a Post-it with your name on it or check for $25 made to the LSRF and $15 cash (also paper-clipped). Please DO NOT give me a check for $40 made out to LSRF or made out to me... [Got it. Give $15 cash to Jim, write a check to LSR Foundation for $25.]
Don't miss your chance to play and support the Pobuda Scholarship!

PLAY GOLF, HELP HARTLAND HERO TEEN CENTER
Down South, we call 'em tournaments. A bit of an intimidating word, which brings out competitive players. Up here, they are golf "outings" which are fun, whimsical and you don't even have to be a good golfer to have a good time. So Steve Livingway is inviting you to have a good time playing 9 holes of golf.
The Hartland HERO Teen Center provides a fun, safe, FREE place for Hartland area teens to play, hang out, eat a meal, and build connections after school and in the summer. The annual Golf Outing is our main fundraiser for the entire school year.

HELP DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO HUNGRY TEENS IN FOWLERVILLE
We also are seeking volunteers to commit throughout the year to the Fowlerville Mobile Distribution, dates to be found at the link. Each of these events is the 2nd Thursday of each month at Fowlerville High School. The distributions will remain outside even in winter months, however our Gleaners team has committed to pre-packing the items at our Livingston-Howell warehouse to reduce time on-site and better prepare for all distributions.
The link includes our upcoming mobile on the second Thursday of every month, through June 2023 so volunteers can plan accordingly. You are amongst the first to receive this information because of your dedicated support and previous commitments. I anticipate that opportunities and availability will change across the year and those changes will be reflected at the link with follow-up emails as reminders or last minute requests (hopefully not necessary!). Please don't hesitate to reach out if anything changes on your end or if there are questions.
At this time, Gleaners is seeing an influx of participants across all distribution programs (in some cases up to 47% increase) and so it is expected that we will minimally serve 150 packages during the 2 hour distribution window from 4-6pm.
Each event will occur at:
Fowlerville High School
700 N. Grand St.
Fowlerville MI 48836
If you or someone you know is interested, please sign-up at the link provided above. If you experience issues or have questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Thank you so much for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you soon!
