A MESSAGE FROM PATTIE COURTNEY
Hey everybody, I hope your week is going well. I feel like I'm making some headway on the multiple projects we have going on around here. Feels good and productive.
This Friday I have invited Cynthia Hill of the West Bloomfield Rotary Club to join us to give us all a basic download of our great Clubrunner site. Clubrunner is loaded with a lot of good information about our club, including contact information for members. It's an essential tool for any club and member. It's my hope to better acquaint our members with this useful resource.
Last Friday Mike Murphy (President Nominee 2022-23) announced the date for our year end celebration, President’s Night. Please mark your calendars for July 1st. We will enjoy some good eats, fellowship and hand out a few awards. To wrap it all up, I will be passing the baton as club President to Jamie Nicholson. Keep your eyes and ears open for more details.
As we round out these last couple of months of my presidency, I want to thank those of you who have nominated individuals for the Golden Roty Award. This hasn't really been about the trophy or gifts associated. (Though they're fun). A number of our recipients have expressed their heartfelt appreciation as the timing of this little pat-on-the-back was much needed and perfect. This makes me happy! We still have a couple more to go.So please submit any nominations you have to me! Be thorough in your reasons for the nomination.
I think that's it! See Friday's Zoom link below...
Jamie Nicholson is hosting 3 young adults as they enter professional life. Each will share briefly about their interests, and career aspirations as a way of networking and will leave time for questions.

Presentation Information: The time to share information will be 5 - 6 minutes (this will include a 30 sec. introduction), with an additional 2 - 3 minutes for questions from club members and guests. NON-DENOMINATIONAL INVOCATIONS FOR ROTARY CLUB MEETINGS Rotary is a non-discriminatory, non-political, and non-denomination organization. Rotary is comprised of members from a wide range of religious faiths, and for that reason Rotary International recommends non-denominational meeting invocations that give no referral to beliefs of specific religions. The Rotary Club of Bellingham, Washington often uses the term, "Lord of the Universe" to remind themselves that no matter what their religion, all good people are guided by the spirit.
Please bow your heads.
Heavenly Father, help us stay focused on the objectives we have for the world: Peace. Tranquility. A true Brotherhood of Man. Freedom from hunger, from oppression, and from sickness. The freedom to choose our own destinies. We reaffirm our commitment to our simple Rotary Four Way Test in that all we do, say, write or Tweet.
,
We reaffirm our commitment to high ethics in all that we do. And we give thanks for all the blessings, opportunities and responsibilities that befall us as Rotarians. We continue in 2021 with optimism, renewed energy, and a commitment to service to you and to our fellow men and women. Please, Lord of the Universe, help us so to serve! Amen and Amen!

HELP SAVE LIVES AT COVID-19 CLINIC at CHILSON HILLS CHURCH
Dear LSRC members, Our Assistant Governor, Carrie Newstead has presented an opportunity for us to get involved with helping at our Livingston County Health Department.
Some highlights: The Livingston County Health Department is now running several clinics a week at Chilson Hills Church on Brighton Road. They are in need of some high level volunteers. Who better to step up then our Rotarians?
Members can email me if interested and I can forward the volunteer forms that will need to be completed or they email Heather directly at the Health Department, who’s contact information is at the bottom of the flyer. I thought it would be nice to talk about my experience volunteering on Wednesdays Clinic earlier this week. Without a doubt one of the most rewarding and amazing volunteering experiences. Thank you to all of you for your incredible leadership during this pandemic.

ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR GOLF
From Jim Gilmore, past Michigan governor and all things sports:
It's time for the 18th annual Fowlerville Rotary Golf Outing. It will be held at Oak Lane Golf Course in Webberville, June 11, 2021.
We have 6 (or 7) signed up and need to round out our 2 foursomes. I'll get us registered and all you need do is show up with clubs, balls, and a check for $75 made out to the Fowlerville Rotary Club.
We've added Rob Johnson, Harvey, Ramesh and Jim W to Sara and Dianne Romsek.
Email me.
Waddayasay?
We usually support them with a foursome or two. [So far we have about six signed up.] It is one of the more reasonably priced (at $75 per golfer) and one of the most enjoyable outings as we support our fellow Rotarians to the west.
It is a 4 person scramble format with prizes to the top Men's, Women's and Mixed Teams.
Since we are fellow Rotarians, we can pay at the door with cash or check. To register, just send me your name and email and I'll complete the forms for our team(s).
Time to get the clubs dusted off...
Jim Gilmore
GROW, GROW, GROW YOUR GLEANERS VICTORY GARDEN!
Our Club has been an active supporter of Gleaners as well as their Victory Garden.
We have planted produce, done the weeding and cultivating of a single row.
We have our very own garden sign.
We built and stained five produce stands for Gleaners to distribute the garden produce.
We built the garden shed as part of an Eagle Scout project.
At the end of last season Jamie Nicholson and I worked at the garden on Saturday morning. The manager (Toni) explained that the volunteer help for the garden was down from previous years. Like so many things during the last 15 months COVID 19 was the primary reason.
Even the Brighton Garden Club did not plant a flower garden. It was easy for us to see the lack of volunteer help to maintain the garden. I would like to once again ask our membership to volunteer time to prepare the garden for planting, clear weeds and harvest the produce. This would be on Saturday mornings from 9am to Noon. The garden has all the tools. Just bring gloves.
Why volunteer? Our regular meetings on Friday mornings are very structured with little time to greet and learn about your fellow Rotarians. Working on projects together is a great way to learn and appreciate the Rotarian working with you. his last weekend we had seven Rotarians working on the Amber Reinick house.
The windows were calked, a front porch was built, shutters installed on the front windows and the rear yard was cleaned. A great time was had by all and we got better acquainted. John Scotta and Rob Johnson were our work leaders and Jerry Beamer our engineer kept everything square. George Watts installed the shutters on the first floor as well as 20 feet up a ladder on the second floor. Dan Bain moved lumber around the way I could have 40 years ago.
Please let me know if you are willing to volunteer on this garden project. I will take on coordinating the volunteers. Many hands make lighter work. Our Foundation is considering a grant to help with the garden preparation.
