Yesterday, the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club hosted our Fourth of July events in downtown Brighton, turning the city's heart into a patriotic celebration hub. The day began in the early hours, with dedicated Rotary members arriving at 5:00 am to prepare for the annual Hungry Duck Run. Over 800 runners took part in this beloved tradition, racing through the streets with enthusiasm and determination.
Following the race, our Club organized various family-friendly activities that filled the downtown area with laughter and joy. Children competed in a lively limbo contest, showcasing their flexibility and balance. The bubble-blowing contest was a hit, with colorful bubbles floating through the air, delighting participants and spectators alike. Meanwhile, the jump rope contest saw kids showing off their impressive skills and stamina.
As the afternoon approached, anticipation built for the day's highlight: the annual Fourth of July parade. The streets of Brighton were lined with excited community members, all eager to join in the celebration. This year, the parade had a special touch as Mark Howell, the founder of Fund A Life, was honored as the 2024 Grand Marshal. Howell’s contributions to the community and his inspiring work made him a fitting choice for this prestigious role.
The parade was a vibrant display of patriotism, featuring floats, marching bands, and community groups proudly waving the American flag. The spirit of togetherness and pride was palpable, with residents of all ages coming together to celebrate the nation's independence.
Our club members' dedication and hard work ensured that the day was a resounding success, creating memories for all who attended. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Chestnut Real Estate, Corrigan Oil, Running Lab, and BAFA, whose generous sponsorship helped make this year's activities possible.
As the festivities ended, the sense of community and celebration lingered, a testament to the club’s commitment to making each Fourth of July a special event for Brighton.
